University Professorship (m/f/d)

– Salery Scale W2 tenure track W3 NBesO – Artificial Intelligence for Scholarly Communication

starting at October 1, 2023

 

The position is initially limited to five years.

The professorship is connected with the leadership of the research department of the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB). Conditions of appointment are in accordance with § 25, Niedersachsen Higher Education Act (NHG).

 

The professorship is to represent the topic of artificial intelligence for scholarly communication. Possible directions of research include:

  • Scholarly Knowledge Representation and Scientific Knowledge Graphs
  • AI methods for Semantic Research Data Management
  • Natural Language Processing of Scholarly Communication
  • HumanComputer Interaction for Intelligent Science Applications
  • Scholarly and Bibliographic Data Management and Analysis
  • Information Retrieval in Digital Libraries
  • Efficient and Scalable Learning Methods for Big Scholarly Data

 

We are looking for an internationally aspiring researcher with experience in raising third-party funding. The professorship is a joint appointment with TIB Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology aiming to build and lead a research group at TIB closely collaborating with TIB’s Open Research Knowledge Graph service initiative. The professorship is intended to complement the research focus of the faculty and to create new synergies with its cross-sectional topic. Depending on the specific orientation, there are further excellent cooperation possibilities with the existing professorships in the faculty as well as in the L3S research center, in the CISPA research center, and in the eNIFE research center, as well as with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Active engagement in the acquisition of third-party funds, both in the national and European context (DFG and Excellence Initiative, BMBF / BMWI and EU projects) is expected.

 

General responsibilities and conditions of appointment apply, in accordance with the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz - NHG). Part- time employment can be arranged upon request.
