The Faculty of Humanities invites applications for the following position within salary scale W2 of the Lower Saxony salary system (NBesO) with tenure track leading to salary scale W3 NBesO to be appointed at the earliest possible date:

University Professorship (m/f/d) in Didactics of English

The position is limited to 5 years. Following a positive evaluation, the candidate will receive a tenured professorship (salary scale W3 NBesO).

The Position

The ideal candidate for this position will cover the entire field of Didactics of English in both teaching and research, focusing on secondary education (Lehramt Englisch an Gymnasien, secondary level I and II). The professor will teach in all teacher training bachelor’s and master’s programmes (Bachelor, Master of Education, Master of Technical Education) in which the English Department participates. The professor will be expected to collaborate on an interdisciplinary basis with the Leibniz School of Education.

Your Profile

A university degree in English, an outstanding doctorate and habilitation or equivalent academic accomplishments in educational research are required. Further prerequisites include experience in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) in the context of higher education as well as a minimum of three years' practical experience at a school or in a comparable pedagogical work environment. Applications with a second state examination will be given preference. Work experience may also take the form of empirical research in the relevant fields. A focus on didactics of language, literature, culture or media is desired. Experience in third-party funding are also desired like experience in the areas of digitalisation of teaching and education.
