The Position
- The professorship to be established will represent an important interface between the institutes "Food Science and Human Nutrition" and "Food Chemistry", which are in the process of fusion, and will leverage synergies in research and teaching through joint activities.
- The research concept should strengthen and add to the research of the Faculty of Natural Sciences in the areas of food science, biotechnology of natural products, biology, life science, biochemistry and cell biology at LUH strategically.
- In terms of teaching, the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching in the newly established Master’s course “Life Science with a focus on Food” and “Food science” (Technical Education), as well the Bachelor’s courses “Life science” and “Food science” (Technical Education).
Your Profile
- The candidate should strengthen the areas of sustainable nutrition (Food/ One Health) and natural product / bioactive compound research. Applicants are expected to represent the field of molecular and functional nutrition research and food science in their research and teaching activities.
- The research focus should be broadly in the areas of metabolomics or peptidomics. An emphasis on bioactive components of foodstuffs (e.g. secondary metabolites or peptides) and their influence on the microbiome or the eukaryotic organism with a chemical-molecular view is desired.
- Scientific excellence should be documented via relevant publications and experience with the acquisition of third-party funding is desired.
- It is expected that prospective candidates teach selected courses in English.
